If you’re planning any home improvement projects soon, this blog is for you! Here are some home improvement trends expected for 2021 to consider when you start renovating or remodeling.
As we start off 2021, you may be looking for a new change to start the new year. If you’re planning a home improvement project, we have some tips and tricks to make sure your project is up with the trends. Here are some popular trends to consider for your 2021 home renovations!
KITCHENS
- Clean-lined Cabinets: One of the biggest trends we’ve seen in 2020 that will carry into 2021 is clean-lined cabinets. Cabinets with seamless lines and minimal hardware, ones that blend together like an endless wall, are all the rage for modern and minimalistic kitchens.
- Dark cabinets: Speaking of cabinets, dark cabinets are all the rage this year. Dark cabinets with light countertops are especially aesthetic, and many people are gravitating towards quartz countertops to get the best contrast possible between their cabinets and countertops.
- Islands: There are 2 trends to consider when remodeling your kitchen in 2021. The first is different level islands! From cantilever islands to split-level islands, mixing up your design can be a great way to add style to your kitchen. If you have the space, double islands are also a great way to go.
- Walnut cabinetry: Warm color palettes are making a comeback for kitchens, but we’ll get to that later. Walnut cabinetry is very popular in kitchens due to its rich and dark color, fine grain, and overall aesthetic appeal. It dresses up any kitchen and gives it a luxurious feeling.
- Reclaimed wood: Reclaimed wood is a great option for your kitchen, especially if you’re going for a rustic kitchen. Whether you’re using it for modern cabinet design or a contemporary kitchen island, reclaimed wood can add an eccentric flair to your kitchen.
- One-piece backsplashes like slab backsplash are rising in popularity compared to tiling. Using marble or metal can give a smoother, simpler look, and you can even spice it up with extra shine or gloss to make it stand out against your cabinets.
BATHROOM:
- Floating cabinets: Floating cabinets and floating vanities are a modern trend, and they look beautiful in any bathroom. They give you more space and are perfect for modern or minimalistic bathroom styles.
- Quartz countertops aren’t just popular in the kitchen! More and more people are using them in their bathrooms. Quartz is durable and resistant to scratching or staining, and it’s an easy material to maintain and clean (not to mention it looks elegant while still being affordable).
COLOR SCHEMES:
- Gold Finishes: When it comes to accents, gold finishes are the way to celebrate the 2020s. They make your kitchen look luxurious and elegant, and you can add them almost anywhere — even with your appliances! Golden sink, anyone?
- Warm colors: As far as 2021 goes, warm colors are all the rage. From wine reds to forest greens and rich, earthy browns, warm colors are 100% the way to go. Liven up your living spaces with a warm color scheme!
- Pops of color: Don’t be afraid to add pops of color though. Bold and bright colors are also on-trend! Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year (2021) is Aegean Teal and one of Pantone’s Color of the Year is Illuminating — a beautiful yellow. Spice up your neutral color scheme with bursts of color to brighten up your home project.
These are all great ways to add a little bit of flair to your home and make sure your home is up-to-date with recent trends.
