Some people want to remodel their homes but they can’t afford to gut their entire kitchen or bathroom. That’s why partial remodels might be the perfect solution!
We tend to show some of the biggest transformations when we showcase our projects and what our team can do, but that doesn’t mean every project we do is a full remodel. We also do partial remodels to help bring you your dream home. Not sure what the difference is? We’ve got you covered!
What is a Partial Remodel?
A partial remodel is often times referred to as a “renovation” but this isn’t always the case. A renovation is a cosmetic change that does not require any changes to electrical wiring, plumbing, or the layout of your space. This could be anything like painting your bathroom or replacing your kitchen sink. A partial remodel can be a cosmetic renovation—like refacing or replacing cabinets—or it could go deeper than cosmetic appearance. Replacing your kitchen appliances and cabinets is considered a partial remodel; you’re still keeping the layout of the space and some of the other elements such as backsplash/tiling and flooring, but you’re altering the functionality of your kitchen and extra work is required for plumbing/wiring.
What is a Full Remodel?
A full remodel alters everything in the kitchen or bathroom. From tiling to flooring, appliances and cabinets, everything in the space will be altered to create a new space. Full remodels are more expensive, but they allow you to create a brand new space. Your partial remodel or renovation will probably require more changes a few years down the road: if you replace the kitchen sink and the cabinets but nothing else, in 5 years you may need to replace the fridge and may find that the cabinets aren’t working with your new appliance. A full remodel allows you to ensure your space is up to date in all areas and that the next time changes are needed, it won’t be anytime soon.
What’s the benefit of a Remodel?
Remodeling part of your home—whether partially or fully—is expensive, but there are benefits to shelling out the money for a remodel rather than making cosmetic, surface changes. First of all, houses can become outdated quickly. Our last blog mentioned that most kitchen appliances need to be replaced every 10-15 years. Remodeling your house means ensuring that everything is up-to-date and that you won’t be scrambling for a fridge in 2 years time and picking out one that fits your cabinets, color scheme, and flooring.
Another benefit of remodeling is that a newly remodeled kitchen can increase the value of your home by almost $70,000. It will cost you money to have your kitchen fully remodeled, but if you plan on selling your house in the future, it’s a win-win; you get to have a nice, new kitchen for a few years and once you sell your home, you’ll make back the money you invested. Bathrooms are also common to remodel. More people opt for a full kitchen remodel compared to bathrooms because there’s typically only one kitchen and multiple bathrooms in most modern houses, but bathroom remodels can also increase the market value of your home.
And lastly, if you can’t afford a full remodel, don’t worry! That’s exactly why partial remodels exist.
