When people come in for a consultation, there are usually are two types; those who know what they want and those who need help. Either way, we’re here to help and guide you through the process of your remodel. So, we’ve prepared some helpful information that will help you know what to expect when visiting us for a consultation.
Plan the Essentials
The basics, right? When planning out your kitchen or bathroom, make sure you’re taking into consideration the essentials that go in that room. We know, it’s silly to tell you not to forget the kitchen sink, but it happens! We aren’t just talking about the sink itself; we also mean the underlying work, too. That includes the pipes, hardware, and any framework. Also, just because you remembered it, doesn’t there is actually room for it. If you haven’t measured out the space available and the size of your appliances, have us come town with our handy tape measurers; we’d be happy to help!
Pictures, Pictures, Pictures!
Have you ever played that telephone game? You know, that one where you pass the message from person to person. Sometimes when you’re trying to describe the design you are looking for, the message gets distorted. We don’t all use the same terminology, and we may have different ideas of what’s being talked about. We just want to be on the same page, so our suggestion is bringing pictures or examples with you.
As you probably know, pictures are worth 1,000 words, and in this case, they can help us get a better idea of the design you’re looking for. You can gather these pictures from anywhere–and with the internet, your options are almost infinite! Usually, we get designs from Pinterest, Twitter, online portfolios, or even our website!
Have Expectations but Be Open-Minded
As remodeling professionals, we’ve seen a lot of designs and finished products, and we have a good idea of what’s going to work and what won’t. Of course, we want you to come with ideas, dreams, and expectations, but we also want you to keep an open mind. When we make suggestions, it’s based on our knowledge and experience, and we only do it to make sure you get the best remodel possible. Our goal is for you to walk into your freshly renovated room with your jaw dropped, and that won’t happen if the design won’t work.
Second, keep your budget in mind. Usually, we can fit into most price points, but there times when we can’t. We don’t want you coming to the consultation and walking away disappointed because the budget didn’t match the design. It can be easy to creep over budget with all the little extra features and upgrades. We will advise you on the things you’ll want immediately, the updates you can install later, and the stuff that is a waste of money.
Remember, we are here for you. We take pride in what we do, so we have a vested interest in designing you the best kitchen or bathroom possible. If you have questions or if you want to run some ideas by us, contact us; we would love to discuss them with you.
